Commuters are facing major delays after Scotland’s busiest motorway was closed in both directions following a serious accident on Friday morning.
The M8 was shut near Harthill, at junction 4a westbound and junction 5 eastbound, following the crash.
Drivers travelling eastbound face delays of about 95 minutes on approach to junction 6a at Chapelhall.
Traffic Scotland said those driving westbound from junction 4 Whitburn faced delays of 20 minutes.
It added that the road was likely to remain closed for some time. Emergency services are at the scene.
Commuters are being urged to find alternative routes.
